A predominantly English-language collection for Audran's comic opera, "The mascot," first performed in America by the Grayson-Norcross Comic Opera Company at the Gaity Theatre, Boston, on April 12, 1881. The vocal scores include editions by O. Ditson (Boston, 1881) and White-Smith (Boston, 1881). Several copies are stage manager's guides. A volume of selections contains nine numbers from the American premiere. The promptbook consists of printed text pasted into a bound volume of lined sheets, and includes manuscript annotations and stage directions. The handwritten vocal part, in German, is for Pippo.
